- Broadband Baluns use magnetic material to extend their operating range below 1 GHz. Common applications include broadband interfaces for Analog to Digital and Digital to Analog converters that require full band frequency coverage
- Banded Baluns use a planar circuit construction to cover frequencies starting above 1 GHz. They are more repeatable and available in smaller packages (including MMICs) vs broadband baluns that require magnetic materials
- Active Baluns are based on a differential amplifier topology allowing for single ended to differential or differential to single ended mode conversion while applying gain to the signal.
Marki Microwave surface mount RF/microwave baluns offer broadband phase balance, amplitude balance, and common mode rejection up to 60 GHz. Marki offers passive MMIC and hybrid baluns, as well as active baluns. MMIC baluns have high repeatability and small form factors, hybrid baluns offer low frequency operation with hand tuned precision, and active baluns maintain high linearity down to DC operation. Marki baluns are offered with a 1:1 or 2:1 impedance ratio, and are commonly used to interface to analog-to-digital converters and digital-to-analog converters.
