Marki Microwave Acquires Saetta Labs, Expands into Ultra-Low Phase Noise Oscillator Technology

Acquisition marks Marki Microwave’s entry into the precision oscillator market with industry-leading sapphire-loaded cavity oscillator technology from the only U.S.-based commercial supplier.

Morgan Hill, Calif. — April 28, 2026 — Marki Microwave, an innovator in the radio frequency and microwave industry for more than 30 years, today announced the acquisition of all assets of Saetta Labs, a Boulder, Colo.-based developer of ultra-low phase noise oscillator technology. The transaction, which closed April 20, integrates Saetta Labs’ capabilities into Marki Microwave’s expanding operations and portfolio of high-performance RF solutions.

Founded in 2023 by Jason Breitbarth, Saetta Labs commercialized whispering-gallery-mode sapphire-loaded cavity oscillator (SLCO) technology, bringing to market a class of ultra-low phase noise oscillators previously confined to physics laboratories. Operating in the 8 to 12 GHz range, SLCO devices deliver phase noise performance that exceeds traditional quartz oscillators by two orders of magnitude, enabling significant improvements in radar range and detection of drones and hypersonic missiles. The oscillators are also well suited for demanding applications in electronic warfare, precision instrumentation and communications.

The acquisition positions Marki Microwave to enter the high-performance oscillator market with a clearly differentiated solution while strengthening its ability to support customers at the system level. By incorporating SLCO technology, Marki Microwave expands its capabilities in frequency generation and distribution, delivering exceptional spectral purity for advanced RF applications. This addition complements the company’s existing portfolio of RF clock distribution components, including power dividers, low phase noise amplifiers and frequency multipliers, enabling the company to offer more complete clocking and timing solutions from a single, trusted supplier.

“This acquisition is a natural extension of what we do,” said Duncan Pilgrim, chief commercial officer of Marki Microwave. “Our customers are building some of the most demanding RF systems in the world, and they need the best possible spectral purity at every point in their signal chain. The SLCO is a market-leading fundamental oscillator at X-band, and it pairs perfectly with our existing amplifier, multiplier and power divider product lines. We’re now able to engage in system-level conversations with our customers in a way we couldn’t before, and that’s genuinely exciting.”

Breitbarth brings a distinguished track record in oscillator technology entrepreneurship to Marki Microwave. He previously founded Holzworth Instrumentation in 2004, building it into a leading provider of low phase noise signal generation and measurement equipment prior to its acquisition by Wireless Telecom Group. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon and master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado, where his research focused on microwave circuit design and oscillator stability.

“Marki Microwave is the ideal home for this technology,” said Jason Breitbarth, founder and CEO of Saetta Labs. “I’ve spent my career working to bridge the gap between what’s possible in the lab and what engineers can deploy in real-world systems. The SLCO is the most capable oscillator I’ve developed, and Marki Microwave’s engineering rigor, manufacturing strength and customer relationships make it the right environment to scale this technology and bring ultra-low phase noise capability to a broader range of applications.”

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
